В In 1974 she graduated from the zootechnical faculty of the Ulyanovsk Agricultural Institute.

In 1990 she defended her PhD thesis, and in 2002 Pykhtina L.A. defended her doctoral thesis on "Improving the efficiency of feed use in the production of milk and meat in the Middle Volga region", and in the same year she was awarded the title of professor at the department.

Lydia A. Pykhtina is the author of more than 157 scientific articles, including in journals recommended by the Higher Attestation Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation – 47, 6 monographs, while 6 articles have been published in the journals Research Journal of Pharmaceutical, Biological and Chemical Sciences and Bio Web of Conferences, part of the Web of Science. She is the author of 2 technical specifications for feed additives.

Under the scientific supervision of L.A. Pykhtina, three dissertations for the degree of Candidate of Sciences were successfully defended.

He is developing the problem of "Studying the effectiveness of the use of new antioxidant, vitamin-mineral, fatty (omega-3) additives in the diets of farm animals and fish and a preprobiotic feed additive created on the basis of a natural nanostructured mineral, an alternative to antibiotics, in order to increase their immune status, realize the bioresource potential of productivity and its ecological purity."

He is the scientific director of the project "Improving the development of the reproductive organs of the young of the parent herd and the subsequent manifestation of the incubation qualities of chicken eggs in industrial complexes on diets with antioxidant additives", supported by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research.

Within the framework of her scientific activity, Lidiya Andreevna, together with the staff of the department and graduate students of the faculty, performs research work on the introduction into production at agricultural enterprises of the Ulyanovsk region of highly effective sorption and sorption-probiotic feed additives made using local mineral raw materials - diatomite of the Inzen deposit.

Lidiya Andreevna is a member and academic secretary of the Dissertation Council at the Ulyanovsk State Agrarian University.
